![]() ![]() ![]() Rohinni is still working out how to market this, it has an obvious draw to domestic capabilities but they are hoping to introduce it successfully to the commercial and industrial markets first. At the moment there is no control over their placement and they are randomly distributed, however finding ways to control this may expand the uses open to the technology. Phase 2 of Light paper is to look at having more control over how the LED’s are dispersed on the paper. This paper-thin light source is 3D printed and could be applied to any surface including lamps, cars, smartphones, etc. Because of the longevity of OLED technology this paper could have a life span of up to 20 years. Well, just when you were only fantasizing about multiple uses of OLEDs, Idaho-based startup Rohinni was busy in developing light bulbs in the ultra-thin shape of paper dubbed Lightpaper. The LEDs are tiny diodes barely visible to the human eye and then randomly scattered over the material. A company called Rohinni has come up with Lightpaper, which is a printable, paper-thin lighting solution that can be applied to any surface. This layer is then sandwiched between two more layers to create a thin paper material that is sealed and lights up. Light paper has been developed by mixing ink and LED’s then printing them out on a conductive layer. “All we know is that we’re trying to unlock the ability to create light.” “With Lightpaper it’s more of a platform of light that we don’t even know how it’s going to be used,” explains Smoot. Rohinni CMO, Nick Smoot, is stumped himself on the applications of the discovery of light paper, but everyone is excited about the prospect of a new way of creating light. ![]() Rohinni has developed a way to print light onto paper which poses the question, how can this be applied and utilised? How can Paper Lighting be used Commercially? An innovative technology has been invented to actually print light on paper using LED technology. ![]()
